By separating the expected 3000 runners into four pace groups and starting those groups on even minutes it is expected that more runners will be able to run "at there pace" right from the start.
The first wave (or group) will consist of all runners who expect to run a 40:00 or better 10K, (6:30 pace or better)
The second wave will be all runners who will finish between 40:00 and 49:30, (6:30 to 8:00 pace) will be moved to the starting line and will start at approximately one minute after the official start, or at the discretion of the official starter.
The third wave will be all runners who will finish between 49:30 and 62:00, (8:00 to 10:00 pace) will be moved to the starting line and will start at approximately two minutes after the official start, or at the discretion of the official starter.
The fourth and final wave will be all runners who will finish between 62:00 and slower (10:00+ pace) will be moved to the starting line and will start at approximately three minutes after the official start, or at the discretion of the official starter.
